Crawford Farms is a family-owned and operated farm since 1966. On over 100 acres located in Durhamville, NY, Crawford Farms has been a state of the art breeding facility and has constantly upgraded the quality of mares on the farm.
Jim and Patricia Crawford began the farm after a visit to a small farm where Little Rocky Stood. As they valued the yearlings hooked to makeshift carts and jogging through a cow pasture they spotted a diamond in the rough… A beautiful filly named GypsyC. who was skillfully jogging around cows and calves never breaking stride and avoiding all of the rough terrain down the pasture. When GypsyC. sold at public auctions at the Syracuse Fairgrounds they outbid the populace to the tune of $2,000.00 (sale topper) for a filly with suspect lineage.
GypsyC. went on to compete favorably in the NY Sire Stakes and a high level thereafter at Roosevelt and Yonkers raceway.
We have been rewarded in the breeding ranks over the years as many of our broodmares go back to GypsyC. Some of the more well-known sons and daughters are GypsyBalance (1:53:3) $952,745, Conway Classic $2,000,000 + winner and Classic Winner.
In the recent years Albert & Michelle Crawford have greatly improved and expanded the Crawford Farms facility to include approx. 30 broodmares, 22+ racing horses and a state of the art breeding/foaling facilities as well as having plush pastures and a half mile trotting track. Not to mention our beautiful retirement paddock!! We have upgraded our stock, are breeding heavily to NY Sires and are a large supporter of the Lexington, Harrisburg, and Morrisville sales.
